Q: I am in high school.
Can I still apply?
A: No, you must be a high school
graduate or obtain GED or equivalent to be
eligible for this contest.
Q: I am in college. Can I still
apply?
A: Yes you are eligible for
this contest.
Q: I am in the military. Can I
still apply?
A: Yes, you are eligible for
this contest, whether you are stationed in the
U.S. or serving overseas, as long as you will
be attending a college, university or certified
trade school in the U.S. by the semester deadline
specified in the rules of this year's contest.
Q: Can I get the scholarship award paid to me
directly if I plan to use it toward my college
expenses like books or housing?
A: AFSA pays the scholarship
money directly to the educational institution
in the entrant's account for tuition and/or
books. No money goes directly to the student.
Q: I will be skipping a semester or two before
I go to college, can you hold the money until
I start?
A: AFSA pays the scholarship
moneydirectly to the educational institution
for the semester specified in the rules of this
year's contest.
Q: I am a foreign exchange student, can I still
apply?
A: You must be a U.S. citizen
or legal resident alien to be eligible for the
contest.
Q: I do not own a home computer. Can I still
apply?
A: You can apply from any computer
as long as you are able to read the essay, submit
the application and take the test online.
Q: What happens to my personal contact information?
A: Your information is collected
only for purposes of administrating this scholarship
contest. It will never be sold or rented to
others.
