2nd Chance Scholarship

Entries Accepted:
January 1, 2025 – August 31, 2025

Enter in 10 minutes for a chance to win one of five $1,000 College Scholarships.
Citizens and aliens legally residing in the USA with a High School Diploma or GED are eligible.

About the Contest

This scholarship contest is open to U.S. citizens or legal residents with a high school diploma, GED, or something similar.
To use the scholarship, you must start college or a trade school in the Fall 2025 or Spring 2026.

  • No GPA or income requirements.
  • Not open to family members of AFSA staff or national board members.
  • If you’ve won an AFSA scholarship before, you can’t win again.
  • Five Scholarships Available Per Year

Who Can Enter

To apply, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
  • Have a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • Plan to attend an accredited college, university, or trade school in the U.S.

Entry Dates

Open: January 1, 2025 (12:00 a.m. CDT)
Close: August 31, 2025 (12:59 p.m. CDT)

How to Enter

  1. Fill out the online entry form
  2. Take a quick 8-question quiz
  3. Submit only once — multiple entries will be disqualified

Before funds are awarded, your information will be verified. Any false or misleading info will result in disqualification.

Scholarship Awards

  • $1,000 each for five winners
  • Money goes directly to your school for tuition or books
  • Schools must be on the approved accreditation list or CHEA directory

Winner Selection

  • Winners are chosen at random by computer after the contest ends
  • Odds depend on the total number of entries

Winner Notification

  1. Winners will be contacted by email and/or phone within 14 business days after the contest ends. You’ll need to: Reply within 10 days of the email or phone call.
  2. Prove you’re eligible by sending: A copy of your birth certificate, U.S. passport, or green card.
  3. If needed, also send proof of citizenship from your original country.
  4. You must send two forms of ID.

Once confirmed, AFSA will send you forms to give to your school. You lose the scholarship if you don’t complete everything within 60 days of the contest’s end.

Winners’ names will be posted on the website by October 2025.
